I have been using Net 10 for about 4 years now. In that time I have found that the rates are reasonable. The customer service is the best and, the quality of the equipment is outstanding.

No, the phone I have does not have a camera, though other Net 10 phones do. The phone wont get on the internet, and, it wont play any music. But it will make calls that are clear as a bell. I rarely find any place where I do not have coverage. Calls are 10.cent per minute. Text messages 5. cents per minute. There is never any other charges such as a service charge for using the phone. There are no extra taxes or fees. I go to the store, any store, pick up a 300 minute card for $30 bucks, activate and I’m good to go.

When I add minutes to the phone I get 60 days of service. I don’t lose minutes if I don’t use them during this time. The only requirement is that I have to purchase more minutes before my 60 days are up. Easy! Any minutes I have left over are added to the new minutes purchased.

About 8 months ago I let my service days expire just to see how hard it is and, what it would cost to reactive the phone and service. I already knew I would lose the phone number. That was a given. It is now 8 months or so later. I bought a new air time card on Friday, July 3, 2009. I tried to add the air time to my phone ( didn’t purchase a new one). I had waited to long. So I called the customer service number found on the web site. I learned that I had waited to long to just add minutes to the phone. The service rep said I’d need a new sim card. She took my address and immediately sent out a new – FOR FREE! Today, July 8, I got the new sim in the mail. Got on the line with customer service again and got the activated. It was very easy.

I have said before that this is the best pre paid cell phone service on the market. Net 10 continues to impress me. It is affordable, reliable, and they have the best customer service I have ever delt with.

I am enjoying my new iPhone. However, I am not that happy with AT&T. My previous server was T-Mobile. For 39.99 I had 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, and unlimited texting for $5. That’s a great deal! With AT&T, for the same price, I get 450 anytime minutes and only 5000 nights and weekend minutes. For $5 I get 200 text messages. I’m thankful that for $30 I get unlimited data. That’s the only plus in the deal. The only saving grace of being with AT&T is the iPhone itself. What a technological monster! I love it.

I am still disappointed that Apple didn’t just release the iPhone as an unlocked product to be used with any carrier. I personally think they would have made a lot more sales. I will bet that many people didn’t buy the iPhone because of the carrier. I know I didn’t buy it for a long time because I didn’t want to leave T-Mobile to go to AT&T. The coverage isn’t that good where I live either. I never drop calls, but, the internet is slow if I’m not in the 3G network area. Thankfully at home my wireless network is rockin.

I hear rumor that Verizon may be getting the iPhone. I have heard many good things about Verizon from people who use it. I haven’t checked it out though. After some research I may be switching. And if T-Mobile ever gets the iPhone I will be going home to what I think is the best cellular network out there.

T-Mobile gave me the best customer service I have ever experienced with the exception of the Net 10 prepaid network. The price is the best for the service you get. If there is a problem with your bill (rarely for me) their customer service reps are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. If you are unhappy with your service in any way they will go to great lengths to make it better for you. They will definitely sweeten the deal if they can (they usually can).

I mentioned Net 10 earlier. This is a great prepaid service if you are looking for a good “pay as you go” system. It is only 10 cent a minute and I mean 10 cents. There is NO OTHER CHARGES! I have been using them for about 4 years. This is another company with awesome customer service. They WILL take care of you. Great prices on simple telephones. You can’t beat this prepaid system.

Anyway, if you don’t want to deal with AT&T and you want an iPhone I would wait until someone else is authorized to offer it. Some people like AT&T. Good for them. That’s all til next time.

There are a myriad of functions that come on this phone. And then there are thousands of 3rd party applications that you can get for the phone. Priced at only $199 this phone is a great buy.

The first thing I noticed about the phone was how easy it was to navigate. There is an icon to access each application on the iPhone home page. The icons can be arranged in any order of your choosing by touching and holding any of them. When they start to wiggle you can move them around the screen to your personal preference. When you have the desired arrangement click the home button at the bottom of the phone and you’re done.

The sound quality of calls is crystal clear. To make quick calls you may add names from your contacts to a favorites category. Then simply touch the name of the person you want to call. You may also go to your contacts and touch the number you want dialed and the iPhone does the rest. Or you can simply choose to use the number pad to manually dial in a number. Everything about telephone portion of this unit is easy. The reason is that it is so visual. For instance, with voice mail you can see a list of the messages you have. You can listen to them in any order by touching the desired message. You can listen through the external speaker by touching the speaker button.

Text message screen

One of my favorite functions on the phone is the text messaging application. The program keeps track of your converstations like a chat screen on your computer. Perhaps this is just new to me. I’m used to the very small screen on my old razor phone, which I really liked, but this makes it a lot more fun to text, which I used to hated. iPhone keeps track of all of your text message converstations with everyone who text you, or, with whom you’ve initiated a text conversattion.

iPhone is the ultimate PDA. It has a calendar which is breeze to sync with your computer. I have already mentioned the contacts application, which is amazing for keeping info on the people that you know. It comes with email, and web surfing applications. You can setup multiple email accounts on the phone. The Safari browser is as easy to use as any desktop browser. All of these applications are updated on your phone and on your computer during syncing.

The phone comes with a camera that takes great photos but you’d better have steady hand. The slightest movement will render a blurry shot. You can also load the phone up with photos from your computer. You can browse thru your photos with the swipe of a finger on the screen.

The best feature of all is the fact that you can download other applications from the apps store. There is an icon on the phone that will take right to the store where you will find thousands of applications both for purchase and for free. I like to have my bible and some of my favorite books available so I was able to download several versions of the bible. I also have an application from eReader.com. With that, I can download books I have purchased on the site. This great for a long trip. Of course everyone konws that you can carry whatever music you want to listen to in the iPod application. With this app you can download purchased movies, rented movies, audio books, and tv shows as well.

These are just a few of the functions and features of iPhone that I have experienced since my purchase. The only thing I see as a draw back is the fact that in the United State the only cell phone network availble for iPhone is AT&T. I didn’t find that the price of the service was as good as what I had with another carrier. And there is weak coverage in the area where I live, but, not so weak that I have to get up and go outside trying to find a signal. I would love to have had the iPhone with my old carrier. Bottom line, iPhone is an incredible hand held unit with an incredible price.

What Is A 3G Network or 3G Phone?

3G is is the 3rd generation of tele standards and technology for mobile networking. The old standard was 2.5G. The new 3G standard is based on the International Telecommunication Union family of standards under the IMT-2000.

Basically 3G enables a wider range of advanced services like wide-area wireless voice telephony, video calls, and even broadband data, in a mobile environment.

It is not like Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is a short range network that requires you be near a hotspot to gain access. A 3G network is a wide-area cell phone network that has evolved to include high speed internet access and video telephony. So you don’t need to be near a hot spot other than your mobile networks coverage area.

To take advantage of this of course you need a 3G telephone. The phone that probably comes to mind with this new technology is the iPhone but there are many many others such as the Blackberry and Google’s new G1.

With a G3 phone you can take advantage of online applications, video, internet access, email, chatting, text messaging and more. There is also GPS features that allow you to use google maps and other software like it to find directions to some of your favorite restaurants and stores.

Cell is short for Cellular phone(s). Do you know why?

Ever wonder why it is called a cell or cell phones? First of all it is really a radio. In the days before cell phones there were radiophones. Remember those big ugly phones with the large antennas? This is where the cell phone can be traced back too. Radio phones transmitted a strong signal to a single tower in the city. The signal had to be strong enough to transmit 40-50 miles. There was usually only one tower per city. Each tower only had about 25 channels. This meant that not everyone could use a radiophone. There were not enough channels.

Cells and cell phones and their function

The cell phone towers of today divide the city up into smaller cells so millions of people can use their cell phones at the same time. Dividing the city up into small cells allows frequency reuse across the city. In other words each cell has a set of frequencies. Frequencies can be duplicated across the city because they are in different cells. Now cell phone companies can sell to millions of people.

Hopefully this cell information has been helpful. Please check out the link at the top and bottom of the page if you are shopping for a cellular phone.

Want a cheap cell phone? Pay As You Go Might Be Your Best Buy

Cheap cell phones – everyone wants one. Many times though you get side tracked by some sales guy selling you the latest and greatest cell phone service. And of course you have to have the latest and greatest million dollar phone to go with it. Have you noticed that none of them ever offer you the “pay as you go option?” You can get a cheap cell phone or even a free cell phone with this option.

Most of the cell phone companies wont offer you a prepaid option because they make more money with a monthly plan. This works out for them but what about you? If they do have a pre paid option it is usually so expensive that it compels you to go with a monthly plan that you really don’t want.

There are however cheap cell phones and pre paid services out there. How does $29 for a phone sound to you? And how about $30 for 300 minutes? This works out to just 10¢ per minute. This is just one example of the kind of prices you can get with a real pay as you go cell phone company. It’s not a crappy phone or service. It has call waiting, phone book, color screen, text messaging and more. A long distance call is exactly the same. The minutes don’t go twice as fast. Pre paid services vary from one company to the next. Net 10 and TracFone are among the best in pre paid cellular service.

Pay as you go cell phone companies are in competition with convintional companies so, the rates are going to be better and of course you will be able to get cheap cell phones. Don’t let another month go buy paying the high cost of your cellular service. Get a pay as you go phone today.

A Cellular Phone Plan or Pay As You Go Cellular?

I’ve had cellular phone plans for the past 5 years. Prior to that I lived in Italy where everything is pay as you go. It Italy I got spoiled in the fact that I could buy as many minutes as I wanted and use them as fast or as slow as I want to, without the pressure of having to buy more minutes to keep my phone active. Anytime you bought minutes it got you six months of active service. There was no cellular phone plan. Pay as go in Italy also meant that you could buy a new sim card from a different company and use it with your current phone. Here you are bound to whatever phones you service provider has available.

My celluar phone plan ends this coming April and I am ready to go with pay as you go cellular. The reason is that I pay for a certain amount of time now that I very rarely even come close to using. I pay a pretty high price for a phone that I rarely use. With a pre paid service I will spend less money. I am only interested in one prepaid cell phone company- NET 10. I like the offers they have there. You simply pay .10 cents a minute for every call.

One day the majority of cellular phone plans in the U.S. may all be pay as you go or prepaid. I believe the prices will get better because of the competition.

Some advantages to look forward to are no monthly bills. If you choose not to buy minutes you can do that without worrying about your credit being affected. That brings us to the no credit check aspect of pay as you go cellular. The fact that your private records do not need to be accessed in order to use a prepaid cell phone is a good thing. With monthly cellular plans if you want to change your plan, many times they will ask you to commit to another 1-2 year contract. With pre paid, if I find something better I can switch with no questions asks. This the kind of freedom I am looking for with my cell phone plan.
