I don’t know about you but on Monday the 22nd of Feb. my cell phones lit up like Christmas trees. Telemarketers were calling from all over the place; and they still are. There is something you can do about it though.  I received an email a few weeks earlier, which I ignored, that warned me that my cell phone number would become public in just a few days. The email also gave me a number that I could call in order to have my cell phone numbers blocked and added to the “do not call list.” The process takes just a few minutes however, it takes about 30 days for your number to be pull off the public list. I should have paid more attention to the email.

Here is a copy of the email for your benefit. If you have been bombarded in the last week with calls from telemarketers on your cell phone there is something you can do about it.

Every time you answer a call from a telemarketer remember, you are paying by the minute for the call. Your cell phone number, if you are like me, is a private number. That, for me,  is  part of the reason I have a cell phone. If I wanted to be harassed by telemarketers I would have a house phone. And even still you can have your home phone  number added to the “Do Not Call List.” Because we pay for cell phones literally by the minute I think it is absolutely appalling that the numbers would be made public.

Are you still one of the hold outs of the smart phone craze? Let’s face it. Everyone doesn’t need a smart phone. There are people who only need a cell phone to make calls. After all a cell phone is a good thing to have if you are traveling and have an emergency. The more minutes you buy the more service days you get. It is very easy to activate by phone or online. To activate by phone you need a phone other than the Net10 phone you are activating.

If you just need a phone with a simple pre-paid plan Net10 is a great choice. I have personally used Net10 for the past 5 years. I have never been to a place where I could not get a signal to make or receive a call. Also, anytime I have ever had a problem with the phone (not in anyway often), customer service has been extremely helpful, to the point of sending me a new phone if necessary, with no mention of warranties.

In 10 years of using cellphones I have never been charged for long distance calls. There are phone companies of course who charge extra for long distance but, I wouldn’t have paid for it. In other words I would not go with a cell phone company that charges extra for long distance.

For most of the 10 years that I have been using cell  phones I have been with T-Mobile. My  most recent plan with T-Mobile included 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends and, for $5, unlimited text messaging. And of course there was unlimited long distance. This is not a package plan that T-Mobile has, but, they were some things that they did to keep me as a satisfied customer. T-Mobile is a great cell phone company.

Even ATT doesn’t charge me for long distance and they are not at all one of my favorite companies. They are very expensive. I pay much more now for way less service – my punishment for wanting the iPhone. I love the iPhone. I just wish someone else could be a service provider. I’d still be with T-Mobile if they had iPhone.

At any rate I don’t think I have heard of very many  cell phone companies that charge for long distance. In fact most people use their cell phones exclusively for long distance instead of a home phone.

Motorola has created a new smart phone for Verizon. Droid seems to have everything and, it’s way cheaper than Blackberry or iPhone. It has touch screen technology and QWERTY slider. What is identity theft? It is when someone can acquire enough of your personal information to open credit accounts, do business transactions or access your personal accounts without your knowledge.

Before the age of electronics, computers, and the internet people didn’t have to worry much about their identity being stolen. Now days people have their identities stolen almost on a daily basis. Hello, I haven’t written about building a web site or web page in a while. Today though I have been playing around with a program that I bought online called Thesis. You may notice that the site has a different look. Thesis is a theme builder for wordpress web sites. I was constantly searching the web looking for a theme that I like. Sometimes I would find one that was kind of close to what I wanted but there would always be something about it I didn’t like. I’d try to change what I didn’t like but, sometimes I couldn’t.

I have only been working with Thesis for a day but I can already see how this theme builder will allow me to totally customize, even build my site the way I want. The program will allow you to create a single column, two, or even three column layout. Almost everything is done for you. You have control over link functions, text colors and sizes, multimedia, and more.

Thesis is really easy to use. What I have noticed so far is that there is plenty of documentation and instruction on “how to.” There are videos and articles which are very helpful.  I am not even close to making this site look the way I want it to look. With Thesis I think it will be pretty easy.

If you are serious about improving or, building your own design for your wordpress site Thesis can make that pretty easy. Thesis cost under $200, and I mean way under. It is a powerful program and well worth the investment.
