Just A Cell Phone-Net10 Pre Paid

by bigphone on February 7, 2010

Are you still one of the hold outs of the smart phone craze? Let’s face it. Everyone doesn’t need a smart phone. There are people who only need a cell phone to make calls. After all a cell phone is a good thing to have if you are traveling and have an emergency. If you need to be able to be reached at all times for business that does not require that you have access to email and internet. Yes these circumstances still exist. Or do you just need a way to keep up with your teenager or young adult? At any rate you just need a phone.

Well there are certainly several to choose from including phones with monthly cellular plans and pay as you go pre-paid plans. There are many pre paid plans to choose from. One I like in particular, because I don’t make that many calls, is the net10 pre paid plan. Net10 has several phone models to choose from. The one I am holding in my hand above is the Net10-300G made by LG.

The phone feature beautiful clear calling, voice mail, text messaging, phone book, records recent call, has audio and ring tones, games, calculator and much more. At a cost of only $29.99 in the store you can’t beat the price. It comes out of the box with 300 free minutes and 60 days of service to get you started. The cost of airtime at Net10 is always .10cents per minute nation wide on any call. Text messages are .5 cents sending and receiving.

You can purchase airtime in the store or online. You can buy air time in increments of 200, 300, 450, 600, or even 1000 minutes. That’s $20, $30, $45, $60, or $100 depending on your need. The more minutes you buy the more service days you get. It is very easy to activate by phone or online. To activate by phone you need a phone other than the Net10 phone you are activating.

If you just need a phone with a simple pre-paid plan Net10 is a great choice. I have personally used Net10 for the past 5 years. I have never been to a place where I could not get a signal to make or receive a call. Also, anytime I have ever had a problem with the phone (not in anyway often), customer service has been extremely helpful, to the point of sending me a new phone if necessary, with no mention of warranties.

For me, prepaid rules. I did a bit of research and discovered NET10 was the best for my purposes. I don’t use a lot of minutes — maybe 200 or so a month — and I’m not a mad texter or websurfer either, but 10¢ a minute for calls and 3¢ for texts is crazy good. And no fees per day or other bs.

I got a very nice Samsung phone with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and no one knows it’s prepaid. Costs me a big $30 a month for all my stuff.

Great review of Net10’s plans and nice phone too. I think you hit it on the head, for people who fit somewhere in the middle in terms of cell phone usage, and isnt hugely fussed about the fanciest phone, its the best value for money out there. I’m glad to hear their customer service is reliable too, its something that everyone worries about with prepaid companies. Something else to mention is you get 300 mins and 30 days free when you buy a Net10 phone to start out, so try it for a month and see how it goes…

Net10 is ideal for me as well as I am a moderate user. Here’s an added bonus, other than basically getting the phone for free with the 300 min. and 2 months upon acitivation, the minutes roll over as long as you update your time.

I found that the most economical way for me to maximize my minutes was to buy the $30 Net10 card every 2 months and comes it with 300 minutes and they don’t expire for 2 months. If you average it out, it comes out to about $15 a month, which is less than any other plan. If you just use the phone on a NEED-base only, then the minutes will last and you will save a ton of money by using a prepaid plan instead of a contract plan. Just my 2cents… lol, 8 more and I can get myself a minute of talk time. It’s hard to beat no contract and $.10 a minute.

I just upgraded my Net10 phone to the R355c and love it. Texting is so easy on this phone, And at the rate of 3c, I’ll be doing a lot more of it!

I agree 100% with the article. Smartphones are fun to have, but they are way more than needed. I am using my LG phone from Net10 to make calls and keep in contact with my kids. I used to be addicted to my blackberry, but after the outrageous bills i was paying, I decided that enough was enough, and cancelled my contract and switched to pay-as-you-go. Net10 gives me what I need and nothing more. Really, that’s all I want right now.

Yeah the $30 deal is really cool. With the 300 minutes it comes with, the phone is free. Nothing fancy but very solid and no dropped calls. I like it and it’s rare to get such great value from a phone. I recommend this highly!

I don’t know why more people don’t use it!
