The Smart Phone and The PDA
Typically, a smart phone is a cell phone that goes beyond the normal function of a cell phone. There are increased functions such internet capability, chatting, data storage, email, notation programs, calendars and more. It is really a hand held computer or PDA. When PDAs got really popular a few years ago it was a great tool for keeping your appointments, contact info, downloading email from your computer, and, even playing your favorite mp3 songs.
iPod
The iPod was rising in popularity at the same time but, when it first came out it was pretty much just music and few other features. Then just a few years ago Apple announced the iPhone and iPod Touch which totally blew everything else out of the water as far as putting all the functions of telephone, pda, and music player into one device. And the icing on the cake was Apples beautiful graphics and the touch screen functicon.

Of course we all knew it wouldn’t be long before someone would put the PDA, mp3 player and the cell phone together. It was a marriage that was meant to be. It really didn’t start with Apple though. There are many other smart phones that came before iPhone. Blackberry is an industry standard.There are many other smart phones from other companies as well.
Smart phones are all the rage. Not that everyone needs a smart phone. But if you need to be able to keep up with your contacts, be able to email from anywhere at anytime, have your music, play movies (iPhone at least), and much more, then get yourself a smart phone.
